  • Stay away from activities that could traumatise or bruise the eye (sport, playing with children, DIY etc....).
  • Also avoid putting water or soap in your eyes when going to the toilet in the evening of your surgery.
  • You are recommended to regularly apply your prescribed eye drops. In the case of irritation, do not rub your eyes but try to add more eye drops to hydrate and lubricate the eyes as this is the only sure way to calm the irritation.
  • You should wear the protective glasses (provided) during the night for one week after the operation.
  • You can wear sunglasses outside if you are experiencing any discomfort.

A post operation exam is undertaken the next day. This assessment is quick (less than 15 minutes). 8 Follow up exams are then booked for 10 to 15 days time, then after 1 month and 3 months.

  • It is possible to have either a bath or shower 2 days after the surgery but you must avoid getting soap in your eyes.

  • There is no restriction with regards to diet.
  • It is possible to fly the next day but you must make sure that your eyes remain well lubricated during the flight as cabin air is very dry.

  • No restrictions just reduce your activities during the first few days where possible.
  • For work at a computer screen simply increase the dosage of eye drops.

  • It is possible to drive short distances the following day depending on your assessment.
  • For long distances in the car, wait 3 to 4 day after LASIK treatment and 7 to 10 days after LASEK.
  • If your driving licence includes details that you must wear glasses to drive a 3 month medical certificate can be provided while your vision is stabilising. This should give you enough time to update you driving licence.

  • After 3 weeks, with protective glasses, you can play tennis, football, sail, ski and go to the swimming pool.
